Internet & Computer Access
It is recommended that you read our Internet Use Policy prior to using the Internet at the library. You can use our computers for typing resumes, letters, checking e-mail and conducting research.
Ask about web based resources such as Ancestry.com and QP LegalEze that are available in the Library and other web resources that the Library subscribes to for our patrons.link

Book Club Sets
BC Library Federations have come together to offer Book Club Sets to library members. You and your book club can borrow up to ten copies of each title. We have 35 titles for you to choose from. Follow this link for more information . . .
Fax, Scanning & Photocopying
Photocopying and printing are available at the library at 25 cents per page. Scan Documents $1.00 per page, ask staff for instructions.
You can send or receive a fax from the library. Inquire about pricing at the library. The fax number is (250) 847-1533.
No charge for persons living within the Town of Smithers and surrounding Benefiting Area.
Non-resident fees per year: Individual $33; Family $35; Senior $20; 4 month Temporary $10 + $10 refundable deposit;
If Smithers Public Library does not have it, it may be available from another library in the province through OutLook Online. Ask staff for assistance.

Loan Period and Fines for Overdue Material

Each fall and winter the library offers this free program on Wednesdays from 10:00 to 11:00 am, for children aged 3 to 5. For more information follow this link.

Past Youth Programs the library has hosted include, Teen Movie Nights, Knitting Club, Spoken Word workshop, and the ongoing Online Teen Reading Club.
Scarbble Night is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. It takes place on each 1st, 2nd, & 4th Wednesday of the month at 7pm. There is a $2.00 drop-in fee.
The library Book Club meets 10 times per year on the first Monday of the month (Sept. to June) everyone is welcome. For more information contact the library. The library also lends Book Club Sets, up to 10 copies of popular Book Club titles. For more information on Book Club sets click here.
In Our Backyard: presentation series
In 2010 the library started hosting the In Our Backyard presentation series. Past presentations included, Beekeeping, Cheesemaking, Poultry & Rabbit rearing, Birding, and Bugs. Watch out for upcoming presentations.
